So here it is again: the track listing to my annual compilation, ‘The Best Songs I Bought In 2007 Ever’. There’s some excellent tunes there (Aliens, Maccabees and Decemberists in particular), but somehow it’s a bit underwhelming – there’s certainly not the diversity I’d normally like. I guess my music buying was rather too consistent/unadventurous this year.

I dunno Rich – pretty darned good selection as far as I’m concerned (received it on Friday and have been playing it a fair bit – must burn to iTunes).
Glad you fell for The Maccabees after I banged on about them (assuming it was after that as you said last year). I love that they just bravely released a tweaked version of Toothpaste Kisses as a single – such a gentle, lovely song.
505 is of course tremendous (you fell for that after the Jools performance same as me, right?), and Baby Ate My Eightball is sheer SFA repetitive-class in the style of Chewing Gum Weekend (but I prefer Run Away from Hey Venus).
Not fallen for any artists I didn’t know yet, save for maybe the Darren Hayman track. I’ll keep listening, and its about time I sent you a compilation of my own!

I think it was just a quiet year for music. A few not-earth-shattering second albums, and not many exciting debuts.
Then again, I didn’t listen to much this year.

Thanks Colly – glad you liked it (surprised you got it Friday as I only posted it Thursday night – Royal Mail mebbe not so crap after all).
Your prompting about the Maccabees made me go and see them at the Great Escape and they were fantastic. Probably my favourite album of the year.
Bang on. Fabulous version – those boys really are very good.
Sure is. You’ve promised in public now, so there’s no getting away from it :-)

That is a great compilation you have there, Richard. There’s a few on the list I am not familiar with, but I will certainly check them out. You might want to be a teeny bit careful about offering to share your music. You know how tiresome these music industry lawyer types can be!

Really nice website you got here. Clean-looking, nice-looking, easy-to-use and original.
If i can earn some more money, might return here for a website facelift.

That’s amazing, I don’t know any of these songs. And the only band I know from your list is The Chemical Brothers.
Maybe you could provide deeplinks to amazon, to the “hear example” page for these songs :-)
