Anyone care to deconstruct the redesign of MySQL.com? Here’s a few starters.
- There’s a new Developer Zone which seems to be better organised with clearer downloads, a more editorial feel and a happy person of indeterminate gender wishing me peace.
- The global nav has gained some more elegant tabs, a sub-navigation and some subtle drop shadows.
- The whole site is still nicely liquid but now recoded with CSS layout and meaningful mark-up. Good job.
First impressions are that it’s a little less geeky and a little more friendly. Which is nice.

Full-text searching: Recently I’ve been playing around with MySQL full-text searching, including integrating it as Clagnut’s search engine. It’s good, but there’s a few limitations I had to get around.
