¶ The Dreamweaver MX Preview Release came out today.
It promises vastly improved support for CSS, XHTML, and accessibility (not that improvements would be hard to come by here). Apparently WaSP’s Dreamweaver Task Force consulted on the new version’s evolution, which should be a good sign.
Currently progressing the painfully slow download.
Talking of downloads, I just went to the Dreamweaver MX Feature Tour which I can’t see until I download Flash 6. Thanks. Not sure if I can be arsed really (see previous paragraph).

The biggest thing to improve is the support for CSS. At the moment you simply can’t design a page with CSS layout.
I have hand coded templates for clients who then go away and use Dreamweaver to populate the templates with content and they can’t usefully do this if Dreamweaever is not giving an accurate (or even approximate) representation of the page.

And have you tried using it with a laptop on a bumpy train journey?

dw mx sure promises big things, let’s hope it delivers. it will make a nice change from having to hack dw4 installs to produce decent code.
who knows, maybe it’ll be good enough to let the semi-competent loose on templates without having catastrophy ensue…. :)
